The village will soon have four padel courts located next to the Sports Pavilion in the Vega between the beach road and the mainroad, a hundred metres or so from Río Jate.
First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya, explained that local businessman, Marcos Bustos Rivas (Turcoast) has been awarded the works contract to build them. The budget for the project is 164.119 euros
He indicated that the four courts would be built on adjacent land to the pavilion, which is in the area known as La Mezquita.
“This space was prepared for this when the pavilion was built, so we can now provide the installations that locals have been calling for,” he said.
He also pointed out that owing to the proximity of the courts to the pavilion, the changing rooms of the latter can be used by those using the padel courts.
Editorial comment: it is undeniable that Almuñécar and La Herradura are privileged to enjoy such varied and numerous sports facilities. Considering the size of the municipality, the sport facilities on offer rival those of much bigger towns, indeed, small cities.
My only negative thoughts on these padel courts is that when Benny built the sports pavilion using a very dubious procedure, the present governing party were highly critical of its location and very concerned about the loss of vega – this seems to have been forgotten.

So great! Any info on when they will be ready? Thanks.
