Salobreña Mayor Won’t Run Again

SAL Mayor won't run again OnLThe Mayor of Salobreña, Gonzalo Fernández Pulido, said that he won’t be running for re-election in the coming municipal elections – his place will be taken by Sra. M.E. Rufino.

When the Mayor announced this he had trouble keeping tears from his eyes because he is not a happy bunny. There has been strife amongst the ranks of the local branch of the PSOE and the Mayor perhaps feels that he has been let down by his colleagues.

The fact is that in the run up to the previous elections there were two possible candidates, Pulido and María Eugenia Rufino (actual Councillor for Culture) with the former winning the candidate post.

Since then there were several resignations by councillors from the council that were in the Rufino camp, and who have since announced that they will return to the fold now that Sra. Rufino will be the candidate in the May 2015 elections.
