The Guardia Civil confiscated 400 puppies, belonging to several breeds, just during the month of December in the provinces of Sevilla, Málaga, Toledo, Burgos and Zaragoza.

They had carried out various raids on establishments that specialised in the breeding of these animals for later sale, as part of a crackdown on the transportation of pets, illegal trading and the lack of microchips and vaccinations.

December, for obvious reasons, sees a spike in the trading of animals as presents.
