Motril will be lit up with Christmas lighting from the 5th at 19.00h and continue that way until the 6th of January.
There will also be a 17-metre tall Christmas Tree in the Plaza de España.
The same company that did the August Fair lighting, Ximénez, will also be in charge of the Christmas lights, which are funded with a budget of 100,380 euros – that 5,000 euros less than last year.
But less money does not mean fewer lights because there will more ‘arcos’ decorative lights in the shape of an arch over streets and roads.
In fact there will be 239 of them, 58 of which will be in the municipal dependencies: Varadero, Santa Adela, Puntalón, Los Tablones, la Garnatilla, las Ventillas and el Pelaillo).
There will also be eight illuminated arrangements bearing the words “Feliz Navidad,” one of which will be at the municipal market, and the fountains along Avenida de Salobreña will have special decorations for the occasion, too.
Of the 985,395 bulbs employed, 80% will be LED’s in order to save energy consumption.
The festive touch for Motril will be rounded off by 5,000 Poinsettias, which have been grown in the municipal plant nursery.
