Russian Guitarist Wins Top Guitarist Prize

andres segovia classical guitar competition winnersThe XXX Andrés Segovia International Classical Guitar Competition was won by Russian guitarist, Elena Fomenko, taking the 10,000-euro First Prize.

As well as the money, she also won a top-notch guitar by luthier Luis Santiago Hernández, (Paco Santiago Marín’s son).

But it doesn’t end there, because she is also guaranteed a spot at the 2015 Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada and… the special Brouwer Prize, worth 700 euros, for the best rendition of the Concierto de La Herradura by Eduardo Morales Caso.

The 2nd Prize worth 6,000 was shared by Pavel Kukhta (belarus) and Pedro Aguiar (Brasil) who both get a copy of an 1838 guitar by luthier José Pernas and a spot at the above mentioned international event.

The 3rd Prize went to Andrea Monarda (Italy) winning 2,000 euros.

Lastly the Juventudes Musicales prize for the youngest qualifying entrant worth 400 euros went to María Sánchez Millán (Córdoba).
