Let’s face it, the junction right in front of Aparthotel Chinasol has always been a mess – that is going to change, however.
This confluence between Avenida del Mediterráneo, coming down from the house-cum-ship, the Paseo San Cristóbal and the Cotobro road will soon have a roundabout junction, which will not only make sense of who has priority, but will also sort out the flooding problem.
Well, that’s what Almuñécar Mayor, Trinidad Herrera, announced at a press meet on the terrace the café in Edifício Chinasol. The Mayor was accompanied by the Councillor for Urban Planning and Maintenance, José Manuel Fernández Medina and the Municipal Engineer, Juan José Fernández Peña.
The Mayor says that the project, which was in their electoral programme, has a budget of 142.981,19 euros and that the construction contract went to local company, Atalaya Tropical. The work, which is being financed by the special tax levied on the municipal water bill, should commence in November.
She also said that the roundabout will have a “fisherman’s touch” to it, and the construction work will also include new lighting, as well as better rain drainage.
