This tragedy unfolded at a Chinese zoo three days ago on Saturday 18th October, when a 9-year-old boy tried to feed a caged bear. The incident came to light the next day via local media and a report from the doctor who treated the lad.

The local media sources said that the attack happened at Pingdingshan Hebin Park in the Henan province. The boy managed to get his arm inside the bears enclosure to offer it some food, however, the bear immediately attacked.

The above mentioned doctor at the Pingdingshan 152 Hospital, who treated the boy, explained that the damage to the limb was so severe that what was left of the entire right arm had to be amputated.

The only other information available on the incident would normally come from the local forestry bureau or park staff… however, calls to them for a comment have, as yet, not been answered.
