“The TH1 Hotel Project enjoys every guarantee for the protection of historical and natural heritage,” said the Mayor.
He went on to emphasise, “if there is one project in Andalucia that enjoys every guarantee and which has passed through every possible ‘filter’ for the protection of natural and cultural heritage, then it is the TH1 hotel development.”
With these words, he sought to counter the concern raised by the neighbourhood/ecologist group, Cal y Caña concerning the loss of the vega.
The Mayor, considers that the hotels are fundamental for the creation of local employment and that the town has been working many years towards bringing the hotel project to fruition.
He explained that the urban density of the said area was very low; only 0.25%, with a height restriction of ground floor plus two storeys, as well as ample green and recreation areas.
Mayor Gonzalo Fernández pointed out that the project had had to go through a particularly stringent process because of the heritage level of Salobreña Castle (BIC). In other words, the views from the castle are intrinsic to its national heritage status.
