The Vice-Mayor of Motril, Nicolás Navarro, who also doubles as the Head of of Infrastructure Management, is not a happy bunny.
He lamented what he called “The Black Weekend,” referring to a 2-day vandalism binge, targeting plants and flowers in municipal flower beds.
The Maintenance and Gardening Department had planted 100 flowering plants around the centre of town one Friday at the beginning of the month only to see them wiped out before the following Monday.
The culprits had also sabotaged a piece of machinery used for pruning palm trees along the Paseo de los Álamos – they had poured sand into the fuel tank.
Just the assault against the plants means that 400 extra euros will have to be spent on replacing them. As for sorting out the sabotaged fuel tank…
Off with their pods!
