Not everything is diminishing during the crisis, because the cases of venereal disease are steadily climbing in the province.
The number of cases began to drop in 1997 but by 2003/04, they began to climb again, reaching a peak during 2008/10. At least they think they peaked…
The trouble is that in 2013 the capital’s sexually transmitted diseases centre stopped tracking cases, Fortunately, in the city’s centros de salud and hospitals they have been keeping track.
To put things into figures, whilst in 2004 and 2005 there were 14 and 17 cases of gonorrhea, by 2010 and 2011 they had reached 35 and 39 respectively.
As far as syphilis goes, the cases rose from 14 and 19 to 60 and 68 in the same corresponding years.
