The Motril Port police arrested a 52-year-old from Bouge Chambalud in France for drug smuggling; he was found to have six kilos of hashish hidden in the false bottom of a large olive container.
The stash was discovered by a Guardia Civil sniffer dog during random car searches on vehicles coming off the Volcán de Tinamar, Motril-Melilla ferry.
The dog had taken a keen interest in the boot of a Renault Megane containing several bags of spices and two large glass containers; one containing black olives and the other olive oil.
The dog zeroed in on the olive container and closer inspection revealed a false bottom where the 60 slabs of hashish were hidden.
