Business proprietors in the Nerja Area hostelry sector have raised the alarm after a string of burglaries around the area.
One of the most affected businesses is the cafe-bar next to the gasoline station in on the Nerja/Frigiliana border, which has suffered several break-ins. The latest one was at the beginning of the month when thieves, armed with sledgehammers, battered the safe open, as well as the takings from two gaming machines and a change dispenser.
The manager of the establishment, José Carlos Alfaro, estimated the total loses from each raid at 30,000 euros. He explained that they did not seem concerned by the alarms going off – until they got what they came for, he concluded, they just didn’t stop what they were doing.
