Two Dutch tourists receive 2nd-degree burns on the 25th of March as a result of ordering chorizos flambeados in a Nerja Restaurante. This kind of dish is also known as “chorizos from hell.”
The unfortunate tourists, a 51-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, spent several painful days in the Burns Ward of the regional hospital in Málaga before being flown home.
The incident occurred around ten in the evening of the fateful day. Somehow they were covered with burning alcohol which resulted in burns to their shoulders, faces, chest and hands; an equivalent to 15% to 20% of their body surface
It is no coincidence, perhaps, that chorizos, which are spicy-flavoured sausages, are also the nickname for thugs and crooks…
