We find ourselves in the, soon to be independent, Scotland now, with a rather lovely dog called Snuffles. So how did Snuffles make the headlines? He has two noses… obviously.
Well, to be exact, the nose just appears to be a double-schnoz, but it is just that where the normal crease exists on a normal dog’s nose, on Snuffles it’s like a split, give the appearance of two separate noses. Anyway, the 5-month-old pup ended up stuck in the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Glasgow just over a month ago and came to the notice of the Daily Record newspaper, who reported that the Belgian Shepherd could not be home because he was ‘creeping people out’ with his weird proboscis (I know how he feels! Ed.).
The strange nasal arrangement doesn’t appear to cause any health problems and Snuffles is described as having a “heart of gold,” is energetic and fun-loving, despite the strange ability to move each side of his nose indecently.
The upshot of all this is that Snuffles ended up all over the press in the UK and the centre ended up with thousands of requests to adopt the bi-hootered mutt. In the last few days, the previously shunned pup, moved into his new house with a family in East Lothian, where there is plenty of room for him, being a big lad, to run around safely.
Perhaps he could work for the Gazette… as a Nose Hound.
