The Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Andalucía has decided in favour of the Nerja Town Hall concerning the Med Group. This ratifies the sentence handed down by the provincial law court in Málaga, which had rejected Med Group’s claim.
Nerja had been facing having to hand back 15m euros to this golf-resort developer over the purchase of land for a course.
Yet not only will they not see their 15m euros returned, but they will also have to pay all the court costs – the TSJA‘s decision is final and no further appeals are possible.
The Mayor, José Alberto Armijo, who described this news as “very good” went on to say, “This gives us a complete peace of mind from a financial point of view and confirms that this Town Hall has acted correctly and always strictly within the bounds of legality.”
The Mayor gleefully explained that the oppositions groups that had claimed that it would go all wrong and that Nerja would have to ‘pay for the broken plates’ had been “proven, once again, wrong.”
As for future golf projects, he considers them “more viable than ever,” now that existing contractual agreements had been annulled by judicial decisions.
Finally, he said that the Town Hall had been in contact with the landowners, who had expressed their willingness to continue with the idea of a golf course.
Editorial note: Of course the landowners are still keen on the idea, but let’s see which golf-resort developer is willing to risk funds after what happened to Gold Med…
