Street Work in San Sebastian

ALM Calle Chirimoya OnLCalle Chirimoya in the Barrio San Sebastian of Almuñécar is being pulled up and redesigned.

The Councillor for Obra y Mantenimiento, José Manuel Fernández, explained how the project is backed by a 106,000-euros budget, which covers sorting out the underground plumbing, the telephone and other electrical systems, such as the street lighting, before laying new street surfacing.

A temporary sewage evacuation system has been put in place, so there has not been a run on corks in the supermarkets.

The money, by the way, comes from the Plan de Fomento del Empleo Agrario (PFEA), which, as its name suggests, should really be spent on agricultural infrastructure, such as track maintenance, etc. But Almuñécar is not the only town along the coast that has been using these funds on urban projects.

“This modernized street, which will be paved with aged cobblestones (imitation granite bricks), connects Avenida del Suspiro del Moro with Calle Arcos del Ingenio and La Higuera, amongst others, said Councillor Fernández.
