An electric heater caused the apartment fire in Urbanización Rambla del Espinar, La Herradura. Nobody was hurt despite the extensive fire damage.

The incident occurred just after seven in the evening when a young lad spotted smoke coming from a neighbour’s house – a ground-floor flat.

An off-duty fireman living nearby managed to control the fire with a domestic fire extinguisher until his Fire Service colleagues arrived. The Policía Loca, Guardia Civil and the ambulance stationed at the local medical centre also attended the scene.

It took approximately an hour to put the fire out even though the damage was only restricted to the sitting room and entrance hall.
