Work on Las Gaviotas School

LHR School YardThe Almuñécar governing council has prepared a project for the surfacing of the Las Gaviotas Schoolyard including the installation of rain drains.

The budget, which has to be put out to tender and will be footed entirely by the Town Hall, is 101,214 euros, the village’s First Councillor, Juan José Ruiz Joya.

Sr. Ruiz pointed out that the project has the unanimous backing of the school board. At present, any substantial rainfall forms large puddles in the yard, making it practically unserviceable and the drain away.

In order to affect minimally the normal use of the schoolyard, the work will be carried out in two stages: the first stage will be next to the facade of the main building, as well as the left-hand-side access points as far as the entrance for the infant school; i.e., where the dining room is. The second stage will be what is left.

The First Councillor said that the work should take three months.
