Salobreña Town Hall called for a public gathering in Lobres to demand motorway access to the A-7 from the GR-5300.

Politicians, local businessmen and villagers dutifully demonstrated at the main entrance to Lobres to pressure the Provincial Council into apply pressure themselves on the Ministerio de Fomento Madrid to get the bloody thing added to the project.

The Mayor of Salobreña, Gonzalo Fernández, expressed his displeasure over the “omission of the village’s needs.”

It is worth keeping in mind that the Mayor is a socialist whilst both the Provincial Council and the Ministry are governed by the conservative PP party. however it is equally indicative that the protest was seconded by all the local branches of the respective political parties, including the Salobreña PP.

The Mayor did happen to mention that he had written to the Projvincial Council a couple weeks ago’ explaining the situation but had received no reply to date.
