A 36-year-old woman, who had been the victim of domestic violence by her previous two ex-boyfriends, was murdered by her third one. This incident took place in a flat in Torremolinos, Málaga.
Her live-in lover, 51-year-old A.C.G. with a record of domestic violence, turned himself in and confessed to the crime.
He presented himself at the police station at 04.30h, explained what he had done and handed over the keys to the flat in Calle Brasil where the body of his victim lay. When the police and medical staff arrived, they could only certify that the woman was dead, with apparent knife wounds. However, an autopsy will be needed to establish the exact cause of death.
The Instituto Nacional de Mujer has no record of the woman reporting her lover for mistreatment, although they had been together only a short time. However, the man did have a court order out against him, owing to acts of violence to his ex-sentimental companion, thanks to her having reported him.
The dead woman reported her ex-boyfriends, in 2004 and 2011, generating several court orders to prevent them approaching her, the last of which is still in force.
Editorial Comment: OK, I’m going to stick my neck out on this one. Whilst the crime is reprehensible and totally unjustifiable, what was she doing with a man with a history of domestic violence, after having gone through two turbulent relations ending in domestic violence?
Is there, sometimes, and only ‘sometimes,’ some kind of morbid attraction between victims and aggressors in cases of domestic violence?
In extreme cases, is there an addiction to being on the receiving end of violence?
My questions are not politically correct, but they may be relevant.
