The little town of Jayena, near the Pantano de Bermejales, was rocked by a stabbing in the middle of the street.
A 46-year-old woman, despite having been knifed in the side, was able to defend herself using a dustbin. The incident occurred at 13.45h on the 19th.
Despite the time of day, nobody was around, so it was just the woman, using a rubbish bin as a shield, trying to stop her aggressor from getting another knife wound in. He finally gave up and ran off, not before telling her to leave the village.
She managed to get herself down to the village medical centre where the staff decided to call 112 so the Guardia Civil could be alerted. The victim was transferred to the main hospital in Granada. Her condition is said to be “good.”
When the Guardia Civil questioned her she was still in a state of agitation and refused to denounce the alleged aggressor for fear of reprisals. However, another Jayena resident offered details of the 20-year-old man’s identity and whereabouts.
The victim and alleged aggressor are not related or are involved in a relationship.
