The Policia Nacional in Motril were called out when a mother accidentally locked herself out of her car with her baby inside.
The incident, which occurred last week, began shortly before 13.00h when the emergency-call centre received a call from a distraught woman, calling for help to get her locked car open to reach her baby.
She had placed him in his car seat & belted him up and then, without thinking, locked the car by holding down the interior knob, with the keys still hanging from the ignition. She didn’t even mean to lock the car; much less with the keys inside – it was just a reflex action.
The two policeman who turned up opted for the quickest, but not cheapest, manner of unlocking doors – they broke a small side window.
The baby had been sweating profusely as all the windows were up, converting the car into a mini greenhouse. The baby was taken to Hospital Santa Ana for a quick check up before returning home with its mother.
