Harping On!

RLT sanecans OnLDo not shake my hand when next we meet… unless you want stinky fingers as well!

Five weeks (or is it six?) now of our new Sanecan initiative and not a doggy-poo bag in sight, left or right. So what else to use to clean up with other then?

Think I’ll have to arrange a formal meeting with the Mayor, handshakes and all; that should do it!

  1. Gaz Team says:

Hi, we finally managed to catch up with Luis Aragón, who is the Councillor for the Environment and is responsible for these Sanecans

He said when they launched the idea within days the roll of plastic bags disappeared from all of them, so they replenished them and, again, within days, they had all disappeared again.

This kind of antisocial behaviour, he says, is not restricted only to this service, but can also be seen when it comes to plant beds around town; when the Town Hall, in an attempt to make the town prettier, plants flowering plants in gardens and even in the same holders as the ornamental trees going up Church Street, for example, people come out, dig them up, and cart them off for their own gardens and balconies.

They is nothing that you can do about it, which is why they have stopped throwing money away trying to keep the sanecans stocked with rolls of plastic bags. It’s sad but logical.

    Cheers
    Martin
