Órgiva Fiestas

From today until this Sunday, Órgiva residents and visitors will be enjoying its annual Reales Ferias Fiestas.

Competitions, races, exhibitions, dance bands and even a 90’s pop group, No Me Pises que Llevo Chanclas. Yes, you translated their name correctly: Don’t Step on Me; I’m wearing flip-flops…

The star musical attraction, however, will be the 70’s rock-Andaluz group, Triana, as well as the veteran fiestas band, Rumba Tres, which is a personal blast-from-the-past for me (Martin) as we shared the stage with them back in 1987.

Órgiva Mayor, María Ángeles Blanco, explained, “We have organized these fiestas the best possible for our townsfolk and visitors and we’ll all have a good time, forgetting the day-to-day routine and sharing some good moments together.”

No Órgiva fiesta would be complete without the traditional Paella and the International Migas competitions, as well as the Best Decked-Out Wagon one. There will even be a livestock fair!

Four, jammed-packed days up in the Alpujarra, then, and well worth a visit!
