Office for Flood Damage Claims

The Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera has announced that tomorrow, the 4th of September the Town Hall would open an office to receive claims from flood-damage applicants.

Both the Town Hall and the Provincial Party have announced their intention to call upon the Central Government to declare the affected area as a Zona Catastrófica, which would qualify Almuñécar for special funding.

“We are working and we are going to struggle to achieve it,” said the Mayor, whilst at the same time calling for patience from the affected fruit farmers.

The said office for damage claims will open tomorrow and can be found at the old municipal slaughter house; i.e., in San Sebastian above La Santa Cruz, where the astronomy laboratory is.

Both the Mayor and the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Santiago Pérez, have admitted that it is going to be a long drawn out affair, hence the calls for patience.

It should be remembered that the areas that received the most damage from flood water and hailstones were Río Seco and Río Verde as well as the right bank of Río Jate.
