The Central Government has just thrown an extra 30-million euros at the section of A-7 under construction between Taramay and Lobres.
The money is destined for “complementary work,” on the said section, which should hasten its completion – The Central Government is talking about then end of this year.
The Board of Ministers authorized extra funds for the missing A-7 between Salobreña and Almuñécar, mainly on the Minilla Tunnel, namely the waterproofing of the tunnel and a bolstering of the drainage system for the ground-water filtration which has been causing sizable problems.
Also included in the package are new electrical installations within the said tunnel, fed from a transformer near Cantalobos and running alongside the A-7 to the Minilla Tunnel.
Both the PP Mayors of Almuñécar and Motril consider this as proof of the Central Government’s commitment to the A-7 coastal autovía.
According to the Vice-Mayor of Motril, Nicolás Navarro, this summer’s traffic jams along the N-340 will be the last as the said section will come into use before the present year is out; with the next four months.
