As part of the campaign the Town Hall has installed special rubbish bins for dog excrement, which come with plastic bag dispensers. Sr. Aragón explained that such fixtures were the result of public demand.
“There are those that think that public parks and gardens are outside toilets for their dogs,” said Sr. Aragón, adding that they would take steps to “maintain the township clean,” by which he meant mutt-burger free.
Town Hall maintenance workers have erected such bins on the Paseo Reina Sofía, in Barrio de Los Marinos, Taramay, Parque Alhucemas, Barrio El Castillo, La Paloma and the Parque La Sandovala. More will be installed in the next few days in other areas of Almuñécar and La Herradura.
On the other side of the coin, the fine for fouling pavements in such a manner is between 100 and 600 euros.
