Bomb Alert Hoaxer Arrested

The Policía Nacional arrested a 34-year-old woman for allegedly making over 20 bomb-hoax calls from around the country.

The woman, who lives in Cornellá (Barcelona), chose such sites as hospitals, shopping centres and bus stations in Granada, Motril and Baza, plus  Barcelona, Almería and Málaga airports.

The police started investigating the calls, made from different Spanish cities, around the middle of July and discovered that the alleged culprit obtained the personal details from men that she had found on the Internet, using their identities – even those of their families – to obtain mobile phone numbers (pay as you go) and use them to make the hoax calls. Two of her victims had already reported that somebody had hacked their identities.

Putting all their leads together the police managed to track down a woman in her 30’s, living in Barcelona. They obtained a search warrant and found a mobile telephone with a series of phone cards.
