The Nerja Policía Local came upon two men as they staggered under the weight of steel piping which they were allegedly attempting to steal.

The incident occurred next to Calle Mirto where a pile of pipe sections are stacked, belonging to the water utility company, Aguas de Narixa. This company had already reported the theft of such material on a previous occasion.

The police officers identified the two men, both of whom are from Málaga and have criminal records for drug trafficking and robbery.

When the policemen asked them what they were doing with a section of the piping in their hands, they responded that they were just trying to guess its weight… There was an ’empty’ van parked next to the pipes.
