A VPO is a Vivienda de Protección Oficial, or in other words, government subsidized housing. The Nerja Town Hall had decided to cede land from the SUP-8 (the area known as La Exótica) so that ten subsidized housing units can be built.

The move has been approved by the municipal cabinet but will be presented before a plenary meeting of the council on Friday 28th, with the hope that it will be approved by all parties, explained the Councillor for Housing Nieves Atencia.
