The Nerja Town Hall has struck a deal to lease a piece of private land on El Playazo for summer parking.
The Councillor in charge of beaches, Nieves Atencia, held a meeting with business owners on El Playazo to explain the outcome of a complaint lodged before Costas (Ministry of the Environment, Madrid) by the Comunidad de Propietarios de Río Marinas about traffic along the access track.
The outcome of the complaint was that Costas informed the Town Hall that they were going to give the order to close the track to wheeled transport, as it lies within the strip of coastal land within their jurisdiction.
The Councillor reassured those present that the track would not be closed at both ends with large stones as barriers, as was first thought, but that there will simply be no-access boards placed at both ends.
As a consequence of all this, thanks to the accord mentioned at the beginning of the article, large parking areas will be created at the western end of the beach, which can be accessed directly from the N-340, old main road. Furthermore the parking at the eastern end will be maintained, being accessible from the lane.
Lastly, she assured all business owners and land owners that they have permission, along with delivery vehicles, to use these parking areas.
