The Central Government, through its provincial Coastal Department (Costas), has begun improvement work on the slipway next to the Velilla breakwater in Almuñécar.

The company that is actually carrying out the work is the publicly owned construction company, Tragsa and they are tasked with repairing the damaged caused by the winter and spring gales. The waves had eaten a small section away, leaving a drop at the end making it impossible to launch small boats from there.

To rectify the situation, a small seawall is going up next to the ramp to protect it, as well as the reparation to the ramp itself.
