A woman from Charches, (Guadix) has been remanded in custody without bail for the alleged murder of her husband. The couple had been married 30 years and the motive behind the act reportedly carried out by the 45-year-old woman appears to have been jealousy.
The two daughters of the couple (aged 21 and 26) had reported their 48-year-old father missing on the 13th of May; one of the daughters lived with her parents and the other was independent.
According to neighbours the wife had been extremely jealous of her husband, having become almost “a second shadow” for the man during the last 18 months. The cause was the man’s “parallel relationship” with another woman.
The question is how could the woman have ‘dispatched’ her husband, with whom she had begun a relationship at the age of 15, in the early hours of the morning with her daughter and son-in-law asleep in the house? Both claim that they had heard nothing. It appears that she killed him whilst he was sleeping firing two shotgun cartridges into his head. How could the daughter not have heard it?
Again, it is supposed that the wife transferred the body of Francisco Medina, an Infoca worker, to their apero (agricultural tool store/ weekend retreat) where she allegedly attempt to incinerate his remains. Having failed, she transferred the burnt remains to a piece of land in the Cuestas de Los Hoyos area and hid the body in a ditch, covering it with stones.
Francisco Medina received proper burial after a short church service on the 18th of May, which was attended by many locals.
