April waved goodbye with a blanket of snow in the Almijarras, leaving the mountain tops with a fast disappearing snowcap.
The 1st of May, although sunny down on the coast, is also a glorious day for those that have chosen to spend this public holiday skiing or snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada… that is if it hasn’t been closed down already, repeating last year’s gaffe.
Almuñécar’s mountain park, Peña Escrita was covered in snow, more reminiscent of deep winter in the north than May on the Costa Tropical.
It’s been a thoroughly wet winter and spring, for which the farmers, at least, are thankful, but let’s hope, for the sake of beach tourism that the Costa Tropical lives up to its name and provides visitors with sun-drenched beaches and a breath of hope to the sector’s famished pockets…
