Meanwhile, Down in the Pits

Almuñécar maintenance crews have been busy at the ancient fish-salting factory in the Majuelo park, where the extensive rainfall has created a green jungle.

Another problem is that the water table has risen considerably, turning some of these archaeological remains into mini swimming pools for frogs – i.e., amphibian wildlife, we hasten to clarify. This excess water will be pumped off and used to irrigate the botanical gardens.

The Councillor for Culture gave reassurances that the work on the fish-salting factory was being overseen by archaeological experts; i.e, they were not letting loose a lunatic with a pick, spade and a WMD-sized strimmer down there.

In the photograph, you can probably just make out what appears to be a Rastafarian holding just a pair of bicycle handlebars, but it is in fact a town-hall labourer with a yellow, face-protection mask and a strimmer. After all, what is the point of spoiling you with a decent sized photograph if the Ed and I are adjective-wielding geniuses?
