Model Aircraft Exhibition

The Museo de Historia will be holding an exhibition from the 7th of June until the 6th of July, comprising of model aircraft made by some of the best model-aircraft builders from around the world.

The Exhibition will also include a photo exhibition, all timed to coincide with the Motril Airshow on the 16th of June.

The Councillor for Culture at the Motril Town Hall, Elena Vallejo, together with the Chairman of the Asociación Aeronáutica Andaluza, Orión, José Miguel Pérez Juárez, and the world champion for aero-modelling 2008, Francisco Pino, gave a press conference for the event. Francisco, by the way, is a Motrileño, which is a feather in the cap for the town.

The Councillor explained how these events were part of the VII Festival Internacional Aéreo de Motril, and expressed everybody’s firm intention to make this annual event as international as possible.

A total of 200 exhibits will be on show, ranging from military and civilian aircraft models to uniforms and pieces of real aeroplanes and helicopters.

Another element on show are the three model aircraft in their show cases, which are destined as prizes for the photography competition. A fourth model will be raffled out and the proceeds will go to help financing the event.

This summer event is a must, as each year it grows despite the economic crisis. If you’re looking for a spectacular day out, go to Playa Granada in Motril on the 16th of June to watch the air show, as well as taking in the exhibitions.
