Judges’ Guide to Relaxing

The top judicial body in the country, the Consejo General del Poder Judicial (General Board for Judicial Power) wants its judges to chill out and have issued instructions on how to do so.

On the Board’s website there is a section containing recommendations on how to combat stress… such as squeezing your buttocks. together – the same advice could be given to those that they send to prison, but let’s come to that later.

Breathing deeply and holding it in for five seconds before letting it gradually out, is one recommended method. Another is squeezing your eyes tightly shut until you can feel the pressure build up and then slowly relaxing them. Hmmm… Another technique is tensing your leg muscles and pointing your toes down.

And finally, there is the tried and trusted tensing your buttocks, squeezing them together and slowly relaxing them. It’s all there on the official website.

One can only wonder what would be going on in the minds of everybody in the courtroom as the judge works his way through the recommended anti-stress exercises. On thing is for sure, it might relax the judge but it will scare the hell out of the accused.
