At seven o’clock one morning in Lanjarón, a British resident of the town arrived home to find that his key did not work in the lock of the front door. His suspicions were further aroused when he noticed that two small decorative windows in the door were also broken.
Managing to reach through and open the door, the householder began a search of his property to see what, if anything, had been damaged or taken. On opening the bedroom door, he could not believe his eyes, as there in the bed, fast asleep, was the burglar himself. Very quietly, the householder telephoned the Guardia Civil, who arrived in a very short time.
The officers promptly arrested the occupant of the bed, who, it turned out, was a 44-year-old resident of the town. The sleepy offender was charged with burglary and criminal damage. By this time, he was most certainly fully awake!
