During the first week of March, from 4th to 10th, Salobreña celebrated the II Film Noir Festival Villa de Salobreña. A whole week full of screenings, discussions and other activities related to the Spanish black cinema.
Key figures from the Spanish film industry have visited the villa. Directors like Alberto Rodriguez Librero and Agustin Diaz Yanes, writers like Manuel Blanco, Marta Sanz or Felipe Alcaraz, and actors such as Antonio Resines, were the stars of this festival, which brought together more than 1,500 attendees.
At the closing ceremony, Antonio Resines was honoured; an actor with more than 70 films under his belt. This actor is also very popular for having starred in TV series such as Los Serrano or Los Ladrones van a la Oficina (thieves go to the office).
As an additional attraction to the festival, some restaurants in Salobreña prepared Film-Noir Menus and some hotels offered 20% off their normal rates. Juan Madrid, festival director, stated that they chose this film genre as a way of reporting what is happening in our society, how guilty the system is in the generation of crimes and situations related in this kind of cinema.
We hope to see you all in the III Muestra de Cine Negro to be held next year.
