Cita Cítrica

El Valle de Lecrín is hosting their yearly Feria del Cítrico from today to the 23rd of this month. This year is the eleventh annual event.

The fair is all about oranges, lemons and other citric fruit, how to improve your harvest, advice on fertilizers to use and how to market your produce, but there is much more, as well!

The fair hopes to attract around 2,500 visitors, which is not surprising as its fame has spread across Andalucia in the decade that it has been running. The Mayor of El Valle, Juan Antonio Palomino, considers the event a great excuse for residents and tourists to come up and enjoy the rural environment.

The event has everything from farming advice, guided tours of the local countryside, painting competitions, local treks and even a gastronomic competition based on citric fruits. The whole week ties up on the 23rd in Melegís with the XIII Fiesta de las Naranjas.

Go on, get off the coast and enjoy a bit of that beautiful valley!
