The Lanjarón Town Hall has paid homage to two local transport firms for distributing Cruz Roja, food aid free of charge.
The two companies are Lanjatrans, founded by José Mingorance and Almacenes Pereira, founded by Rafael Pereira. Both companies have been helping the Red Cross out for several years now with this task; i.e., transporting the food which is managed by the Red Cross and delivering it to two charities (La Caridad and Cáritas), who in turn share it out amongst the needy in Lanjarón
According to the Mayor, Eric Escobedo, the owner of Lanjatrans dedicates one of his large articulated lorries to Red Cross deliveries, picking up the food from a depot in the centre of Granada and delivering it to the Almanenes Pereira warehouse, where the workers there unload the pallets and transfer them to a smaller lorry belonging to the Town Hall, which in turn takes it to a municipal warehouse in town.
Between the two companies they handle 14,000 kilos a quarter (three months), free of charge, purely out of a willingness to help those that need it.
¡Enhorabuena!
