In a church in Barcelona, 35 people suffered from carbon-monoxide poisoning and had to be treated in hospital.

In the parish church of Sant Vicenç de Gualba 130 people had attended a concert. Under normal circumstances the church warden puts the gas heaters on half an hour before a Mass, but on this occasion the gas heaters ran during the whole concert, lasting two hours

By the following evening, the last of the intoxicated concert goers was declared fit enough to return home. They say that when you are in a church, you are closer to God – in this particular case, they were closer than they thought.
