They set out from Soportújar, following the acequia (water channel) towards the Los Parrales mill until they reached Río Chico, where they had a chance to admire the two waterfalls.
“We crossed over a wooden bridge on the river, which despite the water was in good shape. After that we passed through what was once a village, which was flooded out around the mid-1800’s,” explained one of the guides (Garín).
After reaching Cañar, where there was a small market open, the walkers carried on to the Ermita de la Cruz, where they stopped for lunch, before finally reaching the end point at Lanjarón.
The next walk will take place on the 11th of November, and has the following route: La Ragua-Ferreira-La Calahorra. This is classified as a medium-difficulty walk, passing through some pretty breath-taking scenery in the Sierra Nevada.
Those interested should put their names down at the municipal sports stadium, where they can also find more details.
