Plaza de Kelibia Facelift

The Mayor of Almuñécar, Trinidad Herrera, had a meeting with business owners in the Plaza de Kelibia to tell them that the square would be undergoing street works which will last a couple of months.

She called the meeting so that the Town Hall and the businesses in the square – all of the bars with terraces on the square – could ‘coordinate’ and thus keep the disruption to trade to a minimum. But it wasn’t all about ‘damage control’ as the business owners were included in the decision making concerning how the finished square should look.

As for the starting date, the Mayor said that she was waiting on a report from Aguas y Servicios, as the water mains, drains and sewage system would all be within the project. She also said that they would try to do the square by sections to minimize the inconvenience to this thriving social meeting point.

Finally, the budget has still not been set, as the Town Hall is trying to have the project included within the provincial council’s Plan de Obras y Servicios, as well as getting Aguas y Servicios to contribute.
