Río Chillar Parking Changes

The Nerja Councillor for the Environment, Nieves Atencia, has announced that the Town Hall has begun the process of signposting the road access to Río Chillar and around the quarry, which gives access to the Cahorros area.

As this time of year sees an influx of vehicles to this area, the Almacheres lane is suffering from a parking problem. The Councillor reminds users that this area is not appropriate for parking.

As a remedy for this growing problem, a free-parking area has been provided on Calle Mirto, which is big enough to accommodate the amount of cars that habitually park at the entrance to the quarry. Furthermore, all along the track to the river, no-parking signs have been erected, as well as notices explaining where visitors can find the new parking area.

The whole thing will eventually be finished off with an access barrier, next to the large eucalyptus tree, just past the access for the Los Almacheres lane. As it is the provincial office for Environment that will have to install the barrier, this could take a while.
