Fined For Flight

A foreign, paragliding enthusiast was fined for launching himself off the side of the impressive canyon face of Ronda. The Town Hall had decided that it would be better to nip that sort of thing in the bud.

The Río Guadalevín has been busy over the last few hundred millennia, excavating this 100-metre-deep gorge, just so our flighty friend – who just had to be a guiri – launched himself into the void from the Paseo de los Ingleses, waving a fond farewell to a passing local policeman.

Fortunately, the fire-service was not required, armed with spatulas, mops and buckets, to retrieve a badly buckled bird man.

But you would be wrong to believe that the Ronda Town Hall shuns people plummeting into the gorge in adrenaline-inspired moments… just as long as they have ropes attached to them, which is why they have installed a sort of metal structure, from which bungee-jumping enthusiasts can launch themselves… under strict supervision, that is.

No, what the Town Hall is worried about is the attraction effect that this feat might cause, so that before long you will have swarms of them cluttering up the canyon floor in mangled miscalculation, bless them.
