Death in a Gully: Consequences

Back at the end of 2009, we reported on an accident that occurred when a car carrying four young people plunged down a barranco. The 19-year-old driver was well over the alcohol limit. The accident resulted in the death of his 21-year-old passenger.

Now, over two years later, the driver has been sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. Whether this sentence will actually result in the lad going to prison, as he has no previous convictions, is not clear. He will also have to pay a fine of 1,350 euros and have his driving licence withdrawn for the next nine years.
