(Córdoba)Firemen from Baena managed to rescue a 3-year-old boy from a crashed car, whose father managed to comfort moments before dying. The child only had a cut to his forehead – the father died soon after the impact.
The car had left the road between Castro del Río and LLanos del Espinar and fallen five metres into a rocky but dry riverbed on Thursday. The mother had reported them missing that same day after he had failed to come home after picking up the child from school. However, the police had failed to find them as the car had fallen from view.
Fortunately, a farmer who was working in his field the next day saw the car and reported it to the police. Firemen climbed down to the wreck and found the dead father with the child still in his arms. The firemen concluded that the father had time to embrace the child to comfort him moments before dying… and that’s how they found them – the child had not moved.
The child was rushed to the nearest medical centre, and from there to the Hospital Reina Sofía in the city of Córdoba. Medical sources said that the child was recovering well but was being kept under observation.
