New Marina for Motril?

A proposed new marina could be in place in three or four years, and everybody’s talking about it.

Plans reveal berths for 800 boats floating in 97,000 square meters of water, and surrounded by a four-star hotel, restaurants, shops, and nautically-related businesses.

It’s so attractive that even opposition party, the PSOE, are equally enthusiastic. Not only will the marina complex generate local jobs and thus buoy up the economy, it will be world-class enough to attract even the most snobbish of affluent sailors.

It’s true that nowhere in the shire is there a serious marina, so this will seriously improve Motril’s contact with the outside world (I mean, I only go there for the ITV).

Already, of course, cruise shops stop in Motril, so the marina and commercial outcrop will be a great addition and a local leisure slash transportation base for everyone.
