Spam, Spam and Spam

How many SMS’s have you received from Telefónica, for example? How many times have they phoned you at the most inconvenient of times – meal times or late in the evening – to tell you about their new offer? You can tell them to never, ever, phone you again… but they do.

There is a law against this, but the problem is nobody denounces them. Yes, we complain to each other and even tell them, unequivocally, to stuff their offer where the sun doesn’t shine – but unless somebody lodges a complaint before the Guardia Civil, a judge or the Consumer Protection Department of the Junta, then nothing will be done.

Yet, the Consumer Protection Department has received over 5,000 complaints during 2010 in the province of Granada alone, against telecommunications companies (Internet/landline/mobile) and electricity suppliers, in both cases concerning billing. Telephone companies are also reported for providing deficient service, especially where offers are concerned. Yet, nobody has lodged a complaint about spamming…
